F1: Hamilton/Pitt movie should take F1 to another level

Excitement is ramping up for the F1 film, which will star Brad Pitt and is being made by seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton’s production company, Dawn Apollo Films.

Hamilton has spoken to Insider about the film, explaining:

“I have such high hopes for it.

“I know we’re going to make the best racing movie that’s ever existed, both visually, and we’re going to work on making sure we pull on the heartstrings of all those fans.”

As well as starring in the film as an F1 driver who returns to the sport from retirement alongside a rookie, Pitt will be co-producing it. Sounds like Michael Schumacher coming out of retirement and racing for Mercedes alongside then youngster Rosberg. Schumacher was already past his prime, but he helped build the team that later brought Hamilton so many wins and titles,

Joseph Kosinsk will be directing the film, who is most recently known for directing Top Gun: Maverick.

F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali has also joined in with the excitement for the upcoming film, revealing that the teams and drivers will be getting involved as well. He explained to Motorsport.com:

“I think it’s serious stuff. I’m very excited because we are somewhere where people think, ‘What’s next?’

“And this is another step in the growth. We truly believe that it will enable F1 to be in another dimension that was not explored so deeply, and so well, until today.

“You will see a lot of things will happen next year on the preparation, and it’s exciting because all the teams will be involved, the drivers, everyone. So it’s fantastic.

“We are already planning all the activity and the activation that needs to be done in a real race weekend, we’re going to start in the second half of the season for the production.

“We are still working on the details, because it’s just the start of the plan, but you will see it will be quite interesting, I would say.”

“Let me say it will be both. But for sure it’s very important in this moment to do certain things.

“Movies will be part of what we’re going to build for the future to attract a new audience, and also to invest in extra revenue that will come.”
