F1: Series begins to shorten DRS zones to make passing harder
Formula 1 technical director Pat Symonds said that the DRS on cars will not go away in the near future, but felt that changes should take place to reduce its effect on some circuits because passing was a bit too easy.
And the change has started in Bahrain this weekend.
The final DRS zone is now 80 meters later after the last corner, turn 15, than last year. The DRS zone 3 detection point does remain just before turn 14.
No changes have been made to DRS zone 1, after turn 3, and DRS zone 2, after turn 10, for the time being.
