Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen congratulate each other on the podium

F1: Verstappen supports notion of race in Africa

By Mark Cipolloni

F1 rivals Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton don’t agree on much, but they do agree on one thing – a race on the Continent of Africa would be nice.

Only one problem – who in Africa will pay the high price to host an F1 race?

Hamilton has previously suggested that a return to Africa could be good for the growth of F1. He would feel right at home among his people.

“I do think that we still need a race in Africa,” said Verstappen to the assembled media.

“We are basically on every other continent, so I do think that’s the next step for Formula 1.

“We have history of course in South Africa, for example. So that would be a great addition.”

Verstappen and Hamilton are paid incredible sums of money.  They should put their money where their mouths are and be co-promoters of a race in Africa.

Good luck with that.
