Rumor: Gulf Oil to feature heavily on 2023 Williams F1 cars (2nd Update)

This appeared on the Williams F1 website briefly, and then they took it down.

The team’s livery reveal is this coming Monday. Look for Gulf Oil to feature heavily.

Why Gulf Oil and Williams?

You see, new Williams F1 rookie driver Logan Sargeant’s grandfather is Harry Sargeant III, a former fighter pilot who runs a multi-billion dollar conglomerate that includes airline companies, oil refineries, oil trading companies, alternative fuel development, and oil and asphalt shipping. He owns the International Oil Trading Company, which supplies the US military in Iraq with aviation fuel.

He also runs Sargeant Trading, which was founded by his father and has the largest fleet of tarmac tankers and barges in the world. Harry Sargeant III has his many fingers in ‘oil’ and has amassed quite a fortune – exact numbers are hard to pin down, but he’s estimated to be worth between $2 billion and $3 billion.

Now you know the rest of the story…….

Correction: RacingNews365.com is rumoring that a Gulf Oil deal with Williams will be announced shortly.

The company previously acted as a sponsor for McLaren and a special livery was featured on the team’s cars reflecting the colors of the brand at the 2021 Monaco Grand Prix.

However, the partnership came to an end in 2022 and Gulf are now set for a return with Williams.

Gulf Oil put out this teaser tweet yesterday, and we can only assume they are taking up a bigger sponsorship role on the McLaren F1 cars in 2023.
