F1: Latifi Will Take A Grid Penalty At Japanese GP

Nicholas Latifi has been handed a five-place grid penalty for the Japanese Grand Prix next weekend following a collision with Zhou Guanyu, which forced both of them out of the Singapore race.

The incident, which also resulted in two penalty points for Latifi, happened on Lap 7. Zhou attempted to make a move on the Williams driver in a battle for 18th, but Latifi looked as if he forced the Alfa Romeo into the wall.

A decision document released by the stewards read: “The stewards reviewed the video evidence and determined that [Latifi] was predominantly to blame for the collision. [Guanyu Zhou] was attempting to overtake [Latifi] on a straight approaching Turn 5 and had significant room, taking the normal racing line..
