F1: Sainz Jr. leads Ferrari 1-2 in 2nd Singapore GP practice

With Max Verstappen sitting in the garage with front suspension issues, the two Ferrari drivers easily led the 2nd practice for the Singapore GP 1 race on the streets of Marina Bay.

Carlos Sainz jr. turned a lap of 1m42.587s to beat his Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc by 0.208s.

George Russell was third fastest for Mercedes, 0.324s behind.

After his Red Bull mechanics made the necessary changes to the front suspension, Max Verstappen only got in one hot lap at the very end of the session and managed 4th fastest time, 0.339s behind.

So far, It looks like Red Bull just can’t match the Scuderia in the final sector, which has the tricky Turn 18 to negotiate and a very short run to the line.

Lewis Hamilton rounded out the top-5 in the 2nd Mercedes.

So, an interesting first day back in Singapore with Ferrari and Mercedes both looking competitive, while Red Bull definitely didn’t show their full hand today.

Overtaking here is possible, albeit tricky, which makes qualifying so important. And with it looking a genuine three team fight up front, tomorrow.
