TV News: Weekend USA TV Ratings
TV Rating Analysis
NASCAR Cup: The NASCAR Cup race from Texas Motor Speedway drew 1.908 million viewers and a 1.11 rating on the USA Network, vs 2.436 million last year. Viewership was down 21.67% from last year’s race on NBC, and the rating was down 26.97%. Horrible results, but to be expected since last year’s race was broadcast on linear TV, vs. cable this year.
NASCAR Xfinity: The NASCAR Xfinity race from Texas Motor Speedway drew 862 thousand viewers and a 0.52 rating on the USA Network vs. 1.188 million last year. Viewership was down 27.44% from last year’s race on NBC and the rating was down 33.33%. Really horrible results, but to be expected since last year’s race was broadcast on linear TV, vs. cable this year.
The number of young people tuned in for both races was just 18% as the NASCAR fan base continues to age out.
NHRA: The ratings for the NHRA finals from zMax Raceway in Concord on FS1 were not in at the time of this writing. Suffice it to say they will be down significantly from last year’s finals shown on FOX.
