F1: Italian GP Starting Lineup after grid penalties (Update)

The FIA has published a corrected starting grid that is so confusing because of their silly grid penalty rules. Everyone is calling for a complete rethink.

Despite Carlos Sainz, Sergio Perez and Lewis Hamilton also taking penalties and qualifying within five positions of Max Verstappen, the Dutchman will still receive a net five-place grid penalty according to the FIA’s existing methodology.

He will therefore line up seventh, alongside fellow Dutchman and Williams debutant Nyck de Vries.

Charles Leclerc landed Ferrari pole position for the 2022 Italian Grand Prix as he fought off Max Verstappen to top Formula 1 qualifying as Carlos Sainz ran third.

The starting lineup is completely jumbled due to all the grid penalties.

With Charles Leclerc on pole for the race Sunday, Monza will be overflowing, so much so that there will be Italians hanging from the trees just to get a glimpse because the race is sold out.
