TV News: Weekend TV Ratings, F1 up 50% (Update)
Here are the numbers just for the Canadian GP itself, and not including the Pre-Race. The race averaged 1.7 million viewers, up 50.6% from 1.129 million viewers in 2019, the last time the race ran.
Viewership peaked at 2.0 million viewers 3:15-3:30pm ET.
The race-only portion is the largest viewership on record for Canadian GP – previous high was 1.5 million for Fox in 2007.

TV Rating Analysis:
- The F1 Canadian GP on ABC garnered a 0.78 TV rating and 1.380 million viewers, up 22.2% from 1.129 million viewers in 2019, the last time the race ran. The 0.78 rating included the pre-race show. We are waiting for the numbers just for the race, which will have a higher rating. We will post an update.
- Once again, the F1 race far outpaced all other racing series when it comes to capturing the all-important 18-49 year old viewer. All other forms of motorsports are unable to attract fans in the age group in any large numbers
- The SRX race won by Helio Castroneves in Pensacola, FL garnered a 0.58 TV rating, down 19.44% from last year when the race ran at Knoxville on this weekend.
- The NHRA Thunder Valley National Finals on FOX garnered a 0.54 rating, up 350% but that is because last year the race was broadcast on cable (FS1)
- The NASCAR Truck race from Knoxville garnered a 0.39 TV rating on FS1, up 8.3% from 2021.
