IndyCar: Friday Morning Report from the GMR Grand Prix
Good morning from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on a gorgeous sunny morning. Today’s weather will be warm with temperatures in the upper 80s for practice and qualifying today. Race day tomorrow might not be so good. Storms with high winds are predicted for late afternoon.
The winner of last year’s Grand Prix, Rinus VeeKay, talked with the media about his experience.
“My first-ever win, doing that in Indianapolis is very special. Also the way it went. Everything went right in the race, and it was a dominant win, which I will never forget, and actually this might be the a good opportunity to show, but I got the date here tattooed on my arm in the off-season.”
“That’s a date that will be printed on me for the rest of my life and something I will never, never forget.”
The Ed Carpenter Racing driver of the no 21 Sonax sponsored entry had the date May 15, 2021, tattooed on his forearm and proudly displayed it to the media. Quite a remembrance.
Stay tuned for more reporting after the first practice at 9:30 am.
