Rumor: This could be last year of IndyCars at TMS, track mocks IndyCar (Update)

The race is over, and the fans voted with their wallets. The turnout for Sunday’s XPEL 375 NTT IndyCar Series race was horrible.

And that was an understatement.

Even the racetrack that hosted the event mocked IndyCar’s popularity at TMS in this tweet.

Another commercially failed IndyCar oval track event in a very long history of failures.

Will IndyCar regurgitate another oval track venue with a long history of failures to replace it?

Rumor has it this could be the last year NTT IndyCar World Series race at Texas Motor Speedway.

Not only does everyone hold their breath because of the danger to the drivers on the high-banked oval, the crowd has dwindled over the years to the point you could shoot a cannon into the grandstands, and you likely won’t hit anyone.

A small segment of the IndyCar fan base keeps calling for more ovals on the schedule, despite a long history of failed oval track events.

Maybe the series will replace Texas with another oval track that has failed several times – Michigan or Milwaukee.  The fans have spoken with their wallets.
