Automotive: Tesla Delivered Almost a Million EVs Last Year

The Austin-based EV maker revealed its fourth quarter production and delivery figures over the weekend, recording its best fourth-quarter results while producing 305,840 vehicles and delivering 308,600 vehicles. The strong fourth-quarter finish wrapped up a year of acceleration for Tesla, which is getting ready to begin production at two entirely new plants in 2022, including one near its new corporate home in Texas.

Overall, in 2021 the automaker produced 930,422 vehicles and delivered 936,172 vehicles. Out of those totals the Model 3 and the Model Y, which continue to be grouped together, accounted for 906,032 vehicles produced and 911,208 vehicles delivered. The 936,172 vehicles delivered during 2021 represent a major leap over 2020, when the automaker delivered 499,647 vehicles to buyers.

The larger Model S and Model X accounted for only 24,964 deliveries.
