Automotive: Tesla Issues Massive Recall For Model 3, Model S
Tesla has announced a voluntary recall to address rearview camera issues for the Tesla Model 3 and front trunk (“frunk”) latch issues for the Tesla Model S. More than 475,000 units of the Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model S sedans are included in the new recall.
The new recall includes Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model S sedans that range between the 2014 and 2021 model years.
The recall includes 356,309 units of the Tesla Model 3 ranging between the 2017 and 2020 model years. Affected units may have an issue with the rearview camera wherein the rearview camera cable harness could become damaged after opening and closing the trunk lid, thus preventing the rearview camera image from displaying.
Meanwhile, 119,009 units of the Model S have been recalled for frunk latch issues, wherein the frunk could possibly open without warning while driving, thus obstructing the driver’s view of the road.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is currently looking into a separate camera issue with various Tesla models, as well as the Tesla Autopilot self-driving feature.
