NASCAR getting into Crypto Metaverse

Adam Stern of SBJ reports that NASCAR has signed up to become a client of new consulting firm Next League that will advise leagues and teams in sports on the metaverse (Web3/crypto/blockchain/NFTs).

The metaverse has been a hot topic of conversation recently, with Facebook and Microsoft both staking claims.

Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of the newly named Meta (formerly Facebook), estimates it could take five to 10 years before the key features of the metaverse become mainstream, all secured by the cryptography behind crypto tokens.

But aspects of the metaverse currently exist. Ultra-fast broadband speeds, virtual reality headsets and persistent always-on online worlds are already up and running, even though they may not be accessible to all.

Launched by Facebook in August, the company’s parent company is now called Meta. Besides gaming, including motorsports racing virtual reality games, meetings in the future will take place in a 3D virtual reality space
