IndyCar: Friday Morning Update from Laguna Seca
Good morning from Northern California and the beautiful Weather Tech Raceway. It is a cool and cloudy morning here. Temperatures are expected to reach the mid-60s today for the only IndyCar practice of the day at 2:30pm local time.
The points race to the championship is the important topic with this being the next to last race of the 2021 season. With five drivers still in contention for the title and looking to get the most of the remaining points to be the winner of the Astor Cup.
Everyone is chasing Alex Palou who has 477 points. He is followed by Pato O’Ward at 452, Josef Newgarden at 443, Scott Dixon at 428 and Marcus Ericsson at 402. No other driver can win the title.

The media center has a tribute to the late Robin Miller in Row one. A chair reserved for the multitalented man who made IndyCar racing his job over the last 50 years with no formal training, just his passion for the sport. He will be missed again this weekend.
