24 Hours of Le Mans – Schedule for Thursday 19 August
The 24 Hours of Le Mans Hyperpole will be the highlight of the day on Thursday 19 August 2021. Twenty-three cars will hit the track together for a spectacular session that’s all about speed. The Road to Le Mans, Endurance Racing Legends, and Porsche Sprint Challenge France support races are also on the agenda.
24 HOURS OF LE MANS FREE PRACTICE (All Times Local)
The teams will have another five hours of track time today. This is their chance to fine-tune the cars and for drivers to get fully comfortable with the 24 Hours of Le Mans racetrack that is unlike any other. The first practice will be held from 14:00 to 17:00 while the second will be in night conditions, from 22:00 to midnight.
24 HOURS OF LE MANS HYPERPOLE
The 23 cars that qualified for Hyperpole yesterday (five Hypercars, six LMP2s, six LMGTE Pros and six LMGTE Ams) will hit the track for a demonstration of sheer speed. The fastest lap clocked by any driver in the line-up will be the time recorded for that car. Competitors are not allowed to pit during the session, but they will be able to use the tires of their choice within the limit of their tire quota for the race. The 30-minute session will be followed by a Hyperpole ceremony.
ROAD TO LE MANS
With free practice in the rear-view mirror, it’s time for qualifying! There will be two qualifying sessions for cars in the LMP3 and GT3 classes of the Michelin Le Mans Cup. The first from 10:40 to 11:00 and the second from 11:15 to 11:35. The first race will take place from 19:30 to 20:25.
PORSCHE SPRINT CHALLENGE FRANCE
In this new championship introduced by Porsche Club Motorsport France, gentlemen drivers get a taste of an elite racing experience. This race is the lowest stratum of the Porsche Motorsport pyramid in France. And while it may sit below the Porsche Carrera Cup France, it is no less important. These drivers will be the first out on the track today for free practice from 09:00 to 09:45.
ENDURANCE RACING LEGENDS
First introduced in 2019, this race features 76 cars that spectators love to see: GTs and prototypes from the Nineties and Noughties.
The series is primarily aimed at amateur drivers eager to enjoy a spin in models such as the Ferrari F40 LM, McLaren F1 GTR, Porsche 911 GT1, Toyota GT-One, Chrysler Viper GTS-R, Audi R8 LMP and Bentley Speed 8.
Free practice sessions will be underway from 12:25 to 13:10 followed by the qualifying round from 18:00 to 18:45.
