American-Ecuadorian F3 driver eyes possible IndyCar or IMSA career

Severely injured with mangled legs suffered in the 2019 Formula 2 crash that killed Anthoine Hubert at Spa-Francorchamps, Juan Manuel Correa states that both IndyCar and IMSA are possible career moves to recover from their injuries and look to the future.

Racing in F3 this year,  the American-Ecuadorian Correa says he is aiming to move further up in 2022. If he doesn’t return to F2, IndyCar has one clear possibility.

“I definitely see myself stepping up,” Correa told some media outlets. “It’s not Formula 3. F2 is definitely at the table and maybe even going to America. We’re currently considering all the options, but it’s definitely a step-up and a new challenge.

“I’m looking at IndyCar. Indy Lights is also an option, but it’s a bit too early to tell which way to go. Maybe I’ll do that in combination with some IMSA rounds. For me, if it has four wheels, it has downforce, and it’s fast, I’ll be happy. But IndyCar I think it’s like the direction we’re looking at, as it’s a category we’re following quite a bit and it’s useful for great races.”

Retired drivers like Jimmie Johnson also think IndyCar is a good destination.
