NASCAR: Texas post-race penalties announced
Penalties following the race weekend at Texas Motor Speedway were announced on Tuesday.
In the Xfinity Series, Josh Berry crew chief Taylor Moyer received a $5,000 fine for having an unsecured lug nut in post race.
Two significant penalties were handed down during the race weekend, both to teams fielding vehicles for Ross Chastain. Competition officials fined the No. 42 Chip Ganassi Racing Chevrolet team $25,000, ejecting crew chief Phil Surgen and dropping Chastain to the rear of the field for the start of the NASCAR All-Star Race for an air-duct violation found in Sunday’s pre-race inspection.
In the Camping World Truck Series, the No. 45 Niece Motorsports Chevrolet team was disqualified Saturday after an unapproved throttle body was discovered in post-race inspection.
Also, Matthew Moermond, a crew member in the Truck Series, was issued an indefinite suspension to for a violation of NASCAR’s Substance Abuse Policy (Sections 12.1; 12.8.a; 12.8.1.e in the Rule Book). NASCAR
