Video: Jay Leno tries to break record in Tesla’s new Model S Plaid
Television personality and car collector extraordinaire Jay Leno now holds the quarter-mile world record for a stock production car. The comedian shared the news in a three-minute interview on the CNBC business program The News with Shepard Smith.
Leno, host of ‘Jay Leno’s Garage’ joins ‘The News with Shepard Smith’ to discuss Tesla’s new Model S Plaid. He tried to break the 1/4-mile record for production cars during a test drive on his show.
The clip of the actual run is brief, but it shows an NHRA-approved time of a startling 9.247 seconds, just a hundredth of a sec. off the company’s announced ideal quarter-mile time of 9.23 seconds.
