Weak demand forces WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca to lower ticket prices

It’s never been more affordable to enjoy the world-class racing action at one of the most beautiful tracks in the world.

WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca is thrilled to welcome fans back to its picturesque track and Laguna Seca Recreation Area. While the facility is following all CDC and local health and safety guidelines, it is pleased to announce that the roar of fans will return this summer – and ticket prices are more affordable.

While the action on the track will be the usual edge-of-your-seat entertainment, getting into the facility will look a little bit different in 2021. Guests are asked to purchase tickets prior to arrival, as admission ticket scanning will be contactless. This means fans are strongly encouraged to either print their tickets at home (info here), or save them digitally to their phone’s wallet (info here), as cell service is in high demand on event days. Additionally, contactless payment methods are preferred for purchases throughout the event.

The first two big events on the 2021 schedule are the GEICO Motorcycle MotoAmerica Superbike Speedfest at Monterey, July 9-11, and the AHRMA Classic MotoFest of Monterey, July 16-18. Both will feature one-day passes starting as low as $20. A three-day pass for MotoAmerica starts at just $70, a 26 percent drop from 2019 prices.

Tickets for the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, Aug. 12-15, start as low as $25 for a Thursday day pass – a 37 percent decrease from 2019 – while 2-day, 3-day and 4-day passes have also decreased between 8-20 percent from two years ago.

The Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey, featuring the top stars of the INDYCAR series, will take place Sept. 17-19. A Friday day pass starts as low as $20, while 2-day and 3-day passes have also seen a decrease in cost.

“As we emerge from the pandemic, and an extremely trying time financially for all Americans over the past year, it is important for us to make the one-of-a-kind experience of an event at our historic venue more affordable,” said John Narigi, president and general manager of WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. “We can’t wait to see race fans in the grandstands again, roaming the paddock and marketplace, and campers filling our stunning backdrops.”

Those wanting to camp at the gorgeous Laguna Seca Recreation Area will find prices have dropped in a big way since 2019. Camp site prices for the INDYCAR event are a minimum of 20 percent lower in 2021, with a reserved 4-night plan dropping 35 percent in price – but with the same great camping experience.

The Monterey Pre-Reunion, Aug. 7-8, and the Hyundai Monterey Sports Car Championship, Sept. 10-12, also have reduced ticket and camping prices.

The 2021 season pass will include general admission, featuring paddock access, open grandstand seating and general parking for the INDYCAR, MotoAmerica, Pre-Reunion, Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion and the Velocity Invitational. A value of more than $600, the 2021 season pass is available for only $399. Monterey County residents save even further, with 2021 season passes offered for a preferred price of $299.

The State of California is expected to no longer require physical distancing or capacity limits and to be fully opened on June 15. Laguna Seca Recreation Area management will continue to monitor and adapt to current CDC requirements.

There’s never been a better time to get outside, take in some fresh air and sunshine, and see some heart-pounding racing action. Tickets for all events, including current COVID-19 protocols, can be found here. To book event camping sites, click here.
