Rumor has it that Cody Ware (shown above), hot off a 4th place finish in the Rolex 24 in the LMP2 class, will be announced to as the 2nd driver for Dale Coyne in 2021, possibly on Wednesday along with Romain Grosjean.
Last week Cody tested the #51 Dale Coyne/Rick Ware Honda at Sebring.
We hear he/they will drive the #51/#52 that will be a joint effort of Dale Coyne racing and Rick Ware Racing. What is not yet clear is whether Ware will drive full-time, or only drive the oval races that Romain Grosjean does not want to do.
It is possible that Ware will pilot the #51 entry full-time and Grosjean the #52 entry on the street and road courses only.
A third-generation driver, Cody is the son of NASCAR driver and team owner Rick Ware. He previously competed for his family team, Rick Ware Racing, full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, driving the No. 51 Chevrolet.
Romain Grosjean is of course needs no introduction – an ex-F1 driver having drove for the Haas F1 team for three years.
