GM Might Build an LMDh Car to Challenge for Le Mans Wins

General Motors has a new director of sports-car racing, Laura Wontrop Klauser, who’s set to oversee the Cadillac DPi and Corvette C8.R GTE. Her appointment comes in a changing era for sports cars, as DPi turns into LMDh and GTE seems lost in the woods.

Speaking to Sportscar365, Klauser says that the General is evaluating both LMDh and GT3 programs to continue its sports-car involvement in this new era. “The fact that [LMDh] has been a joint effort between the ACO and IMSA makes it very appealing. We’ve always wanted to go back to Le Mans in the top class as we have some unfinished business there,” she said, likely referring to the Cadillac LMP1 program of the early 2000s.
