Callum Ilott will not race Formula 1 in 2021
Formula 2 title contender Callum Ilott has announced he will not be racing in Formula 1 next season.
Ilott, 22, is part of Ferrari’s young driver program, and currently sits second in the F2 points standings behind Mick Schumacher heading into this weekend’s Bahrain finale.
“It is time I announce that I have been told I will not be racing F1 in 2021,” Ilott wrote on his social media account.
“Obviously I have known this for a couple of weeks now. I am disappointed, but I will just work harder and do what it takes to make sure it happens in 2022.
“Anyway, I have a championship I want to win.”

Another Ferrari academy member, Russian Robert Shwartzman, is fourth in the F2 standings and it is believed he will definitely return to the feeder series next year.
