Kirkwood Primed For 2021 Indy Lights Season With Andretti Autosport

As the 2021 Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires season approaches, the 2019 Indy Pro 2000 champion, Kyle Kirkwood, is returning to Andretti Autosport and ready tackle the final step of the Road to Indy ladder system. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the 2020 Indy Lights season was put on hiatus until 2021, pushing Kirkwood’s scholarship into the 2021 calendar and the Florida-native couldn’t be more excited to get the season started.

“I am so incredibly excited to get this rolling again in Indy Lights with Andretti Autosport,” said Kyle Kirkwood. “2020 was an unfortunate year for Indy Lights taking a season hiatus, but it has given us as a team plenty of time to focus towards having a perfect year in 2021. Our lineup is very strong this year and fortunately, we are pretty close friends. Our readiness and preparation is incredible and I cannot wait to kick off the 2021 season in a few short months.”

Kirkwood is no stranger to success in his career through the Road to Indy. The 22-year-old collected championships in both USF2000 and Indy Pro 2000 in 2018 and 2019, respectively, along with 21 wins, 11 pole positions and stood on the podium 24 times across two series. For the first time, Kirkwood is primed to become the first driver to win all three Road to Indy championships in pursuit of reaching the NTT INDYCAR SERIES.

Returning to pilot the No. 28 Dallara, Kirkwood will join the field to kick off the 2021 Indy Lights season on the streets of St. Petersburg with a doubleheader weekend, March 5-7, 2021.
