Verstappen tops rain hit 3rd GP of Turkey Practice

Heavy rains have hit Istanbul and the final practice for the GP of Turkey became a tip-toeing session. The rain on the already slippery asphalt resurfacing made the session into an embarrassing disgrace.

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc got in laps early before the rain came down harder.

As a result, Verstappen made it a clean sweep of all three practice sessions by turning the fastest lap – a slow 1m48.485s.  Charles Leclerc was 2nd, almost a full second behind.

Alex Albon was 1.574s behind in third.  All the rest of the drivers could not put down any power with 4th and 5th place 5.5s behind Verstappen.

Lewis Hamilton was so scared he never finished a lap. “Shocking” is the word used by reigning world champion Hamilton. The already slippery track combined with the volume of rain has left even the wet weather maestro struggling to stay on track.
