Upcoming Events at Laguna Seca to be Held Without Spectators
As a direct response to both the state of California and the county of Monterey health and safety protocols, the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli, GEICO Motorcycle MotoAmerica Superbike Speedfest at Monterey and IMSA Hyundai Monterey Sports Car Championship events will be held as closed events and not open to general admission spectators. During the MotoAmerica and IMSA events, Laguna Seca Recreation Area will be closed to all visitors, except for pre-established camping reservations.
The Ferrari Challenge Series, scheduled for the weekend of Sept. 25 – 27, is a North American series run at six acclaimed circuits, organized by Ferrari North America and sanctioned by IMSA. Since its first year of competition in North America in 1994, the Ferrari Challenge series has developed into the largest single-make GT series in North America. Today, drivers compete in the Ferrari 488 Challenge Evo.
The GEICO Motorcycle MotoAmerica Superbike Speedfest at Monterey will be on site 23-25 of October. The Drag Specialties King of the Baggers, Heritage Cup, and the featuring of the CSRA Vintage Superbikes will run as scheduled while the Speedfest Hillclimb, Classic Cycle Motorcycle Show and the Motorcycle Swap Meet was officially postponed until 2021.
The IMSA Hyundai Monterey Sports Car Championship will be on track for the weekend of Oct. 30 to Nov. 1, and is the only west coast stop following COVID-19 rescheduling across the nation. The race doubles as the finale for the GTD class of the WeatherTech Sprint Cup season and will include the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America and the Michelin Pilot Challenge.
In the face of such news, WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca has options for ticket holders for either event. Purchasers may opt to transfer their ticket order to the 2021 event or receive a refund on tickets and camping. The Laguna Seca Recreation Area will be closed to the public for the MotoAmerica and IMSA events except for pre-existing camping reservations. For the Ferrari Challenge Series event only, the park will be open for limited day use, and anyone in the park should be adhering to posted social distancing and face covering protocols. The paddock will be closed to anyone not directly associated with WeatherTech Raceway or the Ferrari Challenge series. Grandstands will be closed for all events.
The Ferrari Challenge Series, MotoAmerica and IMSA events will be televised for race fans to enjoy from the comfort of their home. MotoAmerica will be broadcast on Fox Sports with Inside MotoAmerica on NBCSN. Fans may watch the Ferrari Challenge series live on live.ferrari.com to catch all the qualifying and race action on Saturday and Sunday. There will also be a one-hour highlight program that will air on CBS Sports Network on the Sunday following the race. Tune into NBCSN, NBC or CNBC for live coverage of the IMSA event.
