WRTV sports director Dave Furst leaving to take IndyCar communications position

WRTV in Indy has announced that Sports director Dave Furst is leaving the station and will be joining IndyCar as vice president of communications.

“Dave Furst is a masterful storyteller, who has a vast area of expertise that includes, high school, collegiate and professional sports,” WRTV news director Terri-Cope-Walton said. “We were fortunate to have him at the helm during some of the most memorable sports stories in our state’s history.  After 23 years, Dave’s time at WRTV is impressive and his legacy will impress, even longer.”

“Fortunate. That’s the word that I keep going back to when it comes to reflecting on 23 years at WRTV,” Furst said. “I had a front-row seat to history and, more importantly, hoped to give viewers that feeling as well.
