Briatore hospitalized with Covid-19 (2nd Update)

(GMM) Flavio Briatore will on Saturday be discharged from a Milan hospital.

The former Renault boss went to hospital for a prostate problem last week, but was then isolated when a mandatory corona test came back positive.

“The general clinical conditions allow the patient to continue therapy in home isolation, as is expected in positive cases of SARS-Cov-2,” the San Raffaele hospital said.

Elsewhere in the Italian media, both Briatore’s former wife Elisabetta Gregoraci and Fernando Alonso separately said the 70-year-old Italian is “fine”.

It was reported this week that former Renault boss Flavio Briatore was in a “serious” condition in a Milan hospital with covid-19.

Also 70, the Italian denied that, telling Corriere della Sera: “I only have bad prostatitus.

“I went to the San Raffaele hospital on Sunday night and they hospitalized me, but I still don’t know if I am positive for coronavirus,” Briatore said.

“I feel fine.”

However, reportedly under fire for allegedly giving Briatore preferential treatment, the hospital insisted in a statement: “Mr Briatore went to the hospital for pathology other than covid-19 and, like all patients, was subjected to a swab for the detection of coronavirus.

“The test was positive,” the hospital added.

Former Formula One chief Flavio Briatore has been admitted to a hospital in Milan in ‘serious’ condition after contracting coronavirus, according to reports in Italy.

Multiple Italian reports say that Briatore was transferred to the San Raffaele hospital in Milan on Monday as the result of complications caused by the virus.

While there has been no official statement on his condition, the  ‘L’Espresso’ news magazine says that his condition is ‘serious’, although he is not in intensive care.

Briatore’s illness comes after he fought the closure of his Billionaire club in Porto Cervo, where 60 staff members from the club have tested positive following recent tests, while Briatore himself recently participated in a friendly soccer match there with VIPs, including Bologna coach Sinisa Mihajlovic, who also tested positive for COVID-19.

With the Italian authorities pushing hard to shut down nightclubs, which have become a key source of outbreaks recently, Briatore recently expressed his anger at such actions.

He posted on Facebook: “My heart weeps to see an economy slaughtered by people who have never done anything in their lives.”
