Desperate times for IndyPro Series

Word going around Indy is that Brett Van Blankers, an 18-year-old from New Westminster, British Columbia, was announced to drive with Brian Stewart Racing in the Infiniti Pro Series this coming year with not so much as a test to see if he has the talent to even drive the car. Despite a his very limited racing experience — an abbreviated schedule of Formula 1600 TR on the west coast, Van Blankers landed the ride with a simple $500K check from dad.

One has to be concerned for his well being on those bone crunching dangerous ovals with 450 HP behind him. Yes, 100% throttle racing requires very little talent, but the IndyPro Series does race on road courses now, so some talent is required.
