Tony Stewart to name new Crew Chief

Tony Stewart who became half owner of Stewart-Haas Racing in July is expected to announce soon that Darian Grubb will become his crew chief in 2009 Grubb, currently a team engineer at Hendrick Motorsports will become only the second full-time crew chief in NASCAR’s top tier series that Stewart has ever had. Stewart, who raced for Joe Gibbs Racing for nearly a decade, had previously teamed with Greg Zipadelli. Zipadelli recently signed a long term contract to remain with Gibbs and will become crew chief for new driver Joey Logano who takes over Stewart’s No. 20 Toyota in 2009. Grubb served as an interim crew chief for Jimmie Johnson when Chad Knaus was suspended in 2006. During his short tenure Grubb led the No. 48 team to two wins including the Daytona 500. CupSceneDaily
