Pacific Coast Motorsports announces Junior Team

Pacific Coast Motorsports is pleased to announce the inception of the PCM Jr Team, a driver and team development program, designed to create a tangible link from karts to the pinnacle of North American open wheel racing, the Champ Car World Series.

As announced today in a press conference at Portland International Raceway, the US RaceTronics Atlantic team and its drivers, Carl Skerlong and David Garza, along with karting standout, 13 year old Miles Maroney have been named as the PCM Jr Team.

“Pacific Coast Motorsports began as a competitor in the Champ Car Atlantic Series. We had two very successful seasons, which included the championship with Jon Fogarty in 2004 and it has always been my goal to give back to the ladder system in some fashion," said PCM team director, Tyler Tadevic.

“We took a long, hard look at the current teams in the Atlantic championship and feel that Shane Seneviratne’s program at US RaceTronics is an outstanding racing organization. Both Carl and David are proving they are stars of the future and we are confident they will be great representatives of PCM."

Miles Maroney has multiple race wins and championships in the International Karting Federation, the Snap-On Stars of Karting and the Champ Car Rotax Gartorz Karting Cup series. “Miles has been racing half of his life already. In addition to his success in the karting series, his dedication and professionalism is what led us to this decision," said Tadevic.

The PCM Jr Team program includes driver involvement in the Champ Car team engineering meetings, tests for the Jr team members and inclusion in media and marketing opportunities throughout the remainder of the 2007 season and beyond. PCM plans to include additional open wheel ladder programs to bridge the gap from karts to the Atlantic cars; programs are currently being considered.
