Speedcar demo run wows Dubai crowd

Speedcar provided nail-biting excitement and showed off incredible driving prowess to the visitors at the Dubai Autodrome during their demonstration run this weekend on the 16th and 17th. Race fans are now geared up for the Series that begins on the 26th of January in Dubai, the Speedcar home turf.

Visitors were treated to an up close and personal meeting with great names from the international circuit. The renowned ex F1, stockcar and rally drivers mingled with fans during autograph sessions and grid formations over both days. The 14 drivers participating this weekend were: Jean Alesi, Nico Caldarola, Fabien Giroux, Johnny Herbert, Stefan Johansson, Ukyo Katayama, Mathias Lauda, Hasher Al Maktoum, Alexander Maus, Ananda Mikola, Gianni Morbidelli, Nicolas Navarro, Moreno Soeprapto and David Terrien.

The track action proved to be in competitive yet good spirits among all the drivers with attention being paid to giving spectators a taste of stockcar racing – the first of its kind in the region. The only local driver, Sheikh Hasher Al Maktoum fared very well on his home track and received high praise from Johnny Herbert who said “It is an honour driving with him and I am pleased to see him doing so wellâ€.

This demonstration at the Motorsport Festival sees the end of Speedcar track action for the year 2007. The Series begins in January 2008 and runs over the Middle East and Asia.
