Newman Wachs Racing Signs Jonathan Summerton
Summerton has shown exceptional talent since his first year of racing in the Formula BMW series where, in his rookie year, finished as top American and 3rd overall. Since then he raced in the ADAC BMW series, followed by the F3 Euro series that is probably the most competitive series in the world. Here Jonathan was the only rookie to win a race . The past year he has driven for Team USA in the worldwide A1GP series where he has continued to excel competing with several ex F1 drivers each representing their own countries. Last weekend Jonathan made history when he became the first American to win a race in the A1GP series.
On his return from Shanghai, China, Jonathan said, "I am looking forward to driving for Newman Wachs and hopefully winning some races. I thank Eddy and Paul for giving me this opportunity to race in the USA for their Atlantic Team. It should be a fun year, although we will have to try that little harder as we haven't had the testing that most teams have had, but we will work hard and go for the Championship."

Newman Wachs Racing signs driver, Jonathan Summerton of Kissimmee, Florida, to the #36 car in the Cooper Tires presents the Atlantic Championship powered by Mazda 2008 Season.
Summerton made history this weekend when he took first place in the feature race at Shanghai’s International Circuit in China. Representing A1 Team USA, it was Jonathan’s first and his team’s first ever win. USA became the 16th nation to win a race this A1GP season.
Jonathan began his career in karting at Ocala Grand Prix, Florida. As a 14 year-old in his first year, he won several local races. He will turn 20 next week after competing in the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach with NWR.
