Daly sets new lap record in Canada

Conor Daly

In the first two rounds of the Ontario Formula Ford Championship held at Mosport International Raceway, Ontario, Canada, Conor Daly scored a pole position, two second place finishes and set a new lap record for Formula Ford 1600 cars.

Race one on Saturday saw Daly’s BGR Van Diemen battle with reigning overall FF1600 Champion Matt White, with Daly leading at the drop of the green flag. The close battle continued until the race was red-flagged following a mid pack multicar incident. After the restart White and Daly swapped the lead multiple times with White just able to pip Daly for the win.

Race two on Sunday saw Daly start on the outside of the front row and again do battle with White. Daly tried all he knew to find a way past. In the end it was to be another second place and the satisfaction of having set a new race lap record for FF1600 cars.

Conor’s next races will be rounds three and four of the Ontario championship to be held in Shannonville Motorsport Park, Ontario May 31-June 1st.
