Crash takes out Mansell

Canada – This weekend was the first visit to the Mont Tremblant circuit for Brit, Greg Mansell (#5 Sunseeker). The 20 year old qualified 11th for today’s Sommet des Legends Mont Tremblant , the third event in the Cooper Tires Presents The Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda. After completing just four laps in this morning’s warm-up session, the #46 car of Luis Schiavo lost control and hit the young rookie, causing him to hit the concrete barrier, resulting in extensive damage to his red, white and blue chassis.

It was a disappointing finish to the weekend for Mansell. Due to the severity of the impact into the turn one barrier, the #5 Walker Racing entry, had to be withdrawn from today’s race.

“It was a really unfortunate situation for Greg. He made some big strides with the car and was running well prior to the accident. It’s just a shame Greg really was an innocent bystander and it ruined his opportunity to showcase his capabilities here in Mont Tremblant. It’s a classic road course, perfect for Greg’s background," stated Derrick Walker, Walker Racing Owner.

Greg’s brother, Leo Mansell (#15 Sunseeker), starts 17th on the grid for today’s race along with Kevin Lacroix (#25 Uni-Select/ Deans Knight, who will start outside on the front row. The duo will carry the team’s colors for the Sommet des Legendes at Circuit Mont-Tremblant.
