Nigel Mansell, the 1992 Formula One World Champion and the 1993 CART Indy Car Champion, made his first visit to Miller Motorsports Park this weekend. He was at the track to watch his sons, Greg and Leo, compete in the penultimate 2008 race for the Cooper Tires Presents the Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda, part of the SunRichGourmet.com 1000 presented by The Grand and Little America Hotels.

The elder Mansell, who has raced at and visited racetracks all around the world, was very favorably impressed with the facility and staff at Miller Motorsports Park.

“It is a real privilege to be asked how I feel about this place," he said, “because the facilities, the people who run it and the security staff are all top-notch. I have never seen anything so well put together.

“And the track is a big, long track. It’s a great circuit. I just can’t say enough about Miller Motorsports Park. This place speaks volumes when you look around at this great track."

Mansell met with Alan Wilson, the track designer and CEO/General Manager at Miller Motorsports Park, who welcomed him to the Utah facility.

“It is a tremendous honor to have such a great champion visit our facility," said Wilson. “To receive such high praise from a legendary driver like Nigel Mansell is very, very flattering. We appreciate his nice comments, and hope that he and his family will become regular visitors to Utah and to Miller Motorsports Park."

Greg and Leo Mansell qualified eighth and 15th, respectively, in the first of two qualifying sessions for Sunday’s Atlantic Championship race.
