Team 3G Kester Racing Announces Four-Car Team

Team 3G Kester Racing has announced its plans to run a four-car team in the upcoming 2009 Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear season. The Texas-based team has collaborated with IndyCar’s Team 3G to create a development program that will help drivers move up the ladder through the Star Mazda Championship, Firestone Indy Lights, and IndyCar Series. The 2009 Star Mazda Championship drivers will include Chris Cumming, the 2008 Star Mazda Championship Expert Series Champion, Taylor Hacquard, the 19-year old talent from British Columbia, Canada, and J.C. and Kristy Kester, racing’s only professional brother and sister teammates.

“I’m excited to be joining Kester Racing for the 2009 season", says Chris Cumming. “The Kesters have put together a strong program and everyone is working hard to be on top of the new car spec for this year. I’m looking forward to working with the other drivers as we challenge for podiums and set about defending last year’s Expert Series Championship."

“I am very excited about this year", says Taylor. “The Kester family worked very hard to help make this happen, and I am very happy to be part of their team. I am especially looking forward to gaining some experience at the Indy Car Level, and that was a big part of our decision to move over with Kester Racing and Team 3G of the IRL. Now there is a ladder from within our team which should help me to continue to move up in racing."

For J.C. and Kristy, the addition of two former competitors as new teammates shows a promising growth for the team. “I am excited to take on the 2009 season of Star Mazda", J.C. says. “I feel like last year was only a warm up, both for the team and me. So bring on 2009, I’m ready."

"I am really excited about the 2009 season", Kristy says. “We really had a growing experience last year, being new to the series as well as being a new team in the series. Chris and Taylor will make a great addition to the team. Last year they were some of my biggest competitors. We were constantly switching positions in the top ten points throughout the year. It will be great to work with and learn from them."

The team will have their first test together at the Texas World Speedway in College Station, TX on February 25 and 26.
