Busy Week for Jensen MotorSport

Jensen MotorSport enters one of the busiest weeks in team history, with separate squads competing at circuits 2,000 miles apart.

Michael Nacol and Matt Lee will pilot the team’s race cars at Sebring Florida in race #1 of the 2009 Atlantic Championship. Meanwhile, Freddy Zebede and Barrett Mertins will pilot the team’s race cars at Puebla Mexico in race #1 of the 2009 Formula BMW Americas championship.

Team owner Eric Jensen states, “We have assembled a terrific roster of drivers and team personnel, and everyone in our team is very excited to get the 2009 race season underway. We have all worked diligently to maximize our pre-season preparation, and I am looking forward to seeing how well we stack up versus the best competition in each series."

Michael Nacol will pilot the #3 Jensen Atlantic race car for the full 2009 Atlantic Championship. Michael, who hails from Houston Texas, will make his first ever Atlantic start at Sebring.

Matt Lee will pilot the #2 Jensen Atlantic race car at Sebring. Matt returns to the Atlantic Series, following a successful rookie campaign in the 2007 Atlantic Championship.

The Sebring Atlantic event begins with a series test day on Tuesday March 17th, with the race taking place on Friday March 20th at 2:00 p.m.

Meanwhile, rookies Freddy Zebede and Barrett Mertins will be participating in their first races in the Formula BMW Americas championship at Puebla Mexico. Freddy is an 18 year old driver from Panama City, Panama. Barrett is an 18 year old driver from Alexandria, Virginia.

The Puebla Mexico event begins with first practice on Friday March 20th, and the final race taking place on Sunday March 22nd at 2:00 p.m.

In recent months, Jensen MotorSport has assembled a successful team of engineers and mechanics for the team’s Atlantic and BMW programs. Veteran engineer Steve Erickson and renowned driver coach Christian Boudon have joined with long-time Jensen engineer Adam Marchitto to create a formidable Atlantic team for our drivers Nacol and Lee.

For the BMW program, we are pleased to announce that Remco Mutsaerts will return to his role as Team Manager for the 2009 season. Remco filled the same role in the 2005 and 2006 BMW seasons, operating successful programs with drivers including Frankie Muniz, Tom Sutherland, and Daniel Herrington.
