Sunoco Named Official Fuel of Trans-Am

Sunoco Race Fuels has been named the Official Fuel of the Muscle Milk® SCCA Trans-Am® Series, bringing two classic motorsports brands – Sunoco and Trans-Am—back together in 2009.

Throughout the rich history of the Muscle Milk SCCA Trans-Am Series, Sunoco has been there—not only as an official sponsor, but most famously as the sponsor of Mark Donohue’s Championship-winning Penske Racing Chevrolet Camaro in the late 1960s.

“Sunoco is excited to be involved again with Trans-Am," Sunoco Race Fuels National Sales Manager Bill Corwin said. “Our history goes back to the Sunoco Blue Camaros of the 1960s. I remember the thrill and excitement of Trans-Am glory days and know that a new generation of race fans will get a chance to experience a fantastic series."

In addition to serving as the Official Fuel of the series, Sunoco will present the Sunoco Hard Charger Award at each event for the driver who advances the most positions in the race from start to finish.

“We’ve had a great relationship with Sunoco throughout the years for a number of programs in both SCCA and SCCA Pro Racing," SCCA VP of Marketing & Communications Eric Prill said. “We’re thrilled to have Sunoco on board for the 2009 Muscle Milk SCCA Trans-Am Series."

Trans-Am racing returns March 21-22 at Road Atlanta, as part of the Atlanta Region National/Pro IT Weekend. Tickets may be purchased at the gate.
