Check out F1000

A reader writes, Dear AR1.com, I just wanted to let you know about a well kept secret…..Formula 1000. I just got back from Elkhart Lake……June Sprints, which is the biggest SCCA race event after the Runoffs, I was working with Dustin Wright who is the designer and owner of the factory Phoenix Race Works F1000 car.

Despite very stiff competition from the factory cars from Stohr and Firman, plus many other fast cars, we were on pole by 1/2 second, and then finished 2nd in the race.

These cars are such a great step up from Karts on the way to Star Mazda or Atlantics ……….they weigh 1000 pounds and are powered by a 180 hp 1000cc Suzuki motorbike engine…….they have slicks and ground effects, and offer fantastic performance.

To all the budding Danicas and Graham Rahals out there, this could be the next step after Karts; or as a track day car. Stefan Dwornik (Stefan is a former Champ Car and Indy Car engineer)
