Rolex 24: 11 Hour Report
As darkness came to Daytona International Speedway the atmosphere became almost cathedral-like. The sound of the race cars echoed across the infield and the intonation of the exhaust notes they gave created harmonics that were thrilling. |
This will be our last update until 5am…so here goes…
One Ganassi car drops out and the other one slides in to take the lead shortly thereafter. It's almost like someone just flipped switch. They have been setting and resetting fast lap in the early AM hours. This is the time of the race when you aren't sure if it's tomorrow or yesterday.
Action Express looks like they are holding on well enough as the field really starts to spread out now, with a 41 second gap between first and second and only three cars on the lead lap right now. This is where the Ganassi team always seem to make their move. It also would not be the first time they sent a "rabbit" out front to push the rest of the field while their main team works their strategy.
That would be a great story.
