Lime Rock Park Memorial Day event car corrals

Lime Rock Park hasn’t been very good at telling our fans about the various upcoming Car Corrals. They usually sell out, so to be fair, we want to tell people who don’t already know about them what they are and what fun they can be!

So if you’re asking, ‘‘What is a Lime Rock Park Car Corral?,’’ here’s the short answer: A bunch of cool people who own the same make or model of a car pay a tiny bit more than everyone else in order to all park together in special zones. You get to hang out with other people who are as passionate about their cars as you are.

And the first 50 cars for each Corral get a Parade Lap on the track during the race weekend.

Here are the details on the four public Car Corrals that are set up for the big season-opener – the Memorial Day race weekend, May 28 – 31:

Mustang Car Corral, Fri., May 28 and Sat., May 29
The Ford Racing Mustang Challenge is practicing on Friday and racing on Saturday, so join the Mustang Car Corral! Friday is special, because that’s the Parade Lap Day for the Mustangs. Remember, only the first 50 Mustangs that have a Car Corral ticket and show up Friday morning get the Parade Lap.

Friday Admission plus Mustang Car Corral (includes Parade Lap): $15
Saturday Admission plus Mustang Car Corral (No Parade Lap): $30

Mazda Car Corral, Sat., May 29 and Mon., May 31
Like the ad says, more Mazdas are raced around the world at any given time than any other make, so it’s no surprise that Mazda Car Corrals are popular, too. The two Continental Tire Challenge races are Saturday (lots of Mazdaspeed 3s, Miatas and RX-8s), and the RX-8s in Grand-Am GT are consistent race winners (they’re racing Monday, with the Daytona Prototypes). The Mazda Parade Lap is Saturday, for the first 50 cars that show up.

Weekend Admission plus Mazda Car Corral (includes Saturday Parade Lap): $70
Saturday Admission plus Mazda Car Corral (includes Saturday Parade Lap): $30
Monday Admission plus Mazda Car Corral (No Parade Lap): $40

Porsche Car Corral, Mon., May 31
Porschephiles are nuts about Car Corrals, and we have corrals for Porsches at virtually every race weekend. The Porsche Parade Lap is Monday, May 31, for the first 50 cars that show up.

Monday Admission plus Porsche Car Corral (includes Parade Lap): $40
Note: If you have a Weekend ticket and want to join the Car Corral, it’s just $5 more.

‘‘Herby’s 53’’ and APR Motorsport VW & Audi Car Corrals, Sat., May 29

APR fields VW GTIs and Audi S4s in Grand-Am’s Continental Tire Challenge – there are stand-alone Grand Sports and Street Tuner races on Saturday – so in concert with VW fan club Herby’s 53, they’ve put together two separate-but-equal Car Corrals! The first 25 of each marque to arrive get the Saturday Parade Lap.

Saturday Admission plus VW/Audi Car Corral (includes Parade Lap): $40
