Kumho tests new control tire for F3 Euro Series

Korean tire manufacturer Kumho, supplier to the Formula 3 Euro Series since 2003, has revealed a control tire ahead of the 2011 season which will be made available to the teams from the first official test session onwards.

Of late, two days of testing have been staged at the Vallelunga circuit on the outskirts of Rome during which Dutchman Renger van der Zande helped Kumho trial four different tires – two of them being completely new compounds and two being those already used in the championship.

“The tire which has been chosen in the end is incredibly good," said van der Zande, who managed to rack up some 900 kilometers (560 miles).

“Both the performance for a fast qualifying lap and the consistency for the race are remarkable," added Christoph Hewer, Series Manager of the Formula 3 Euro Series.

“For many years, now, the cooperation with Kumho has been extremely constructive and Kumho also is a reliable and committed partner when it comes to our efforts to increase the attractiveness of the F3 Euro Series."
