Pacific F2000 Series Heads to Wine Country for Rounds 9 and 10

The Pacific F2000 Series Presented by Corsa Car Care is heading north to wine country for rounds 9 and 10 to be run at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, CA. The series is joining the National Auto Sport Association as they take on the challenging 2.520 mile circuit. The weather forecast is for temperatures in the high seventies to low eighties and partly cloudy skies as the series is again joined by Pacific FF Super Series in its inaugural season at this historic venue.

Conner Ford leads the standings over Kyle Kuntze, Ira Fierberg, Bob Negron and David Cheng. Fierberg driving for Dave Freitas Racing is leading the Expert Class (drivers 35-50) and Negron is leading the Master Class (driver 51+). Each of these drivers is capable of standing on the top step of the podium and in fact only Kuntze has yet to take the winner’s laurels.

PR1 Motorsports’ David Cheng coming off two strong races in rounds 7 & 8 and a second place finish in the 12-hour Scirocco R-Cup Enduro at the F1 circuit in Sepang, Malaysia, is hoping to add another F2000 victory or two this weekend.

Ira Fierberg, who claimed his second series win at Fontana is as strong as ever along with Bob Negron who has been challenging the series leaders all season and took his first win in the series at Willow Springs earlier this year and David Cheng figure to battle through the weekend as each competes to claim their position on the top of the podium.

Another driver who took his first Master Class victory at Buttonwillow in round 8 is Swiss Motorsport’s Les Phillips. Phillips driving the sole Mygale in the series is hoping to repeat his performance and once again take home Master’s honor.

All competitors in the F2000 group utilize Van Diemen or Mygale chassis with the Ford Zetec engine while the Formula F group consists of cars powered by the venerable Ford Cortina engine or the newly introduced Honda Fit engines all in late model Swift, Van Diemen and Piper chassis.

Warm up Saturday is at 8:05am with Qualifying at 9:55am and Race at 2:40pm. Sunday’s schedule calls for Warm up at 8:40am, Qualifying at 12:55pm and Race at 4:30pm.
