Daly Wins Final Race and Takes MRF Challenge Championship in India
"This feels good. Whenever we can jam to the American National Anthem on the podium it's a good day. I've loved every minute of racing in India and can't thank MRF and everyone on this team enough for putting up with me and my crazy travel schedules," said Daly.
The championship fight on this final weekend came down to just two drivers, Daly and England's, Jordan King. King led the championship for most of the season and took a slim five point lead into the start of the final weekend. In the end it came down to a straight on track fight between the two. Both Daly and King won on Saturday to set up the final championship showdown on Sunday. Daly knew he had to win the final race with King finishing no higher than third place. Daly ran a faultless race, taking the lead from Belgian, Sam Dejonghe on lap six and eventually winning by 1.3 seconds. King ran as high as third initially before dropping back and finishing seventh. "Arun and everyone at Ravilla have become friends of mine during the championship run and I want them to enjoy the celebrations because they have supported me so well," said Daly.
Daly has quickly become one of the best known race car drivers in India with their national newspapers and television carrying full reports of his success in the Indian series.
Daly now travels to England to finalize his plans for his European program which he hopes to be able to announce within the next two weeks.
