ESPN's live telecast of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway on Sunday, Oct. 27, earned a 2.7 U.S. household rating, averaging 4,315,850 viewers, according to Nielsen Media. The rating was up 12 percent from last year's race, which earned a 2.4 rating with an average of 3,617,199 viewers. Of the six races in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup that have been run and telecast as scheduled, five have seen ratings and viewership growth over 2012. Greensboro, N.C., led all metered markets across the country with an 8.4 rating for the Martinsville race telecast, followed by Greenville, S.C., at 7.6 and Norfolk, Va., at 6.9. Indianapolis (5.7) and Charlotte (5.6) completed the top five. The rest of the top 10 markets were Richmond, Va., (5.5), Birmingham, Ala., (5.4), Knoxville, Tenn., (5.3), Nashville, Tenn., (5.1) and Raleigh-Durham, N.C., (4.9). ESPN
