F1600, F2000 and Atlantic Schedules for 2016 Announced
For the third straight year, the Championship seasons will open at Road Atlanta in April, with Trans-Am joining the Formula Race Promotions ticket before the same offering travels to Watkins Glen International in May.
From there, the F1600, F2000 and Atlantic groups hit another fantastic track in VIRginia International Raceway in early June. In early July its Mid-Ohio followed by the new Pittsburgh International Race Complex in early August, before New Jersey Motorsports Park at the end of August and the brand new Dominion Raceway in Virginia to close out the season in October.
"This schedule keeps with our philosophy of offering significant track time at marquee venues," said Formula Race Promotions co-owner Robert Wright.
"Competitors will see upwards of three hours of track time at each weekend, and we'll add even more with test days at Road Atlanta, Dominion, and one other event. Our schedule offers realistic travel times and is well spaced throughout the year. All our race track partners from 2015 are back with us again this year as we continue to build up our weekends and keep similar dates."
Before Road Atlanta, the Series will double its exhibition in Florida offering with a trip to Palm Beach in February paired with a visit to Sebring the next weekend. The expansion is based on feedback solicited from active participants in all three Series.
In all, nine weekends are offered for teams and drivers, with ample spacing from February to October, providing an opportunity for drivers to hone their skill sets while teams are provided a stable environment in which to operate.
