Erik Jones Wins Xfinity Series Pole at Charlotte

NASCAR Xfinity Series rookie Erik Jones collected his fourth pole position of the season in Saturday's qualifying for the Hisense 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, leading a Joe Gibbs Racing sweep of the first three spots for Saturday's race.

Jones took the top spot with a single-lap run of 184.546 mph in the no. 20 Toyota Camry, besting his JGR teammates Daniel Suarez and Denny Hamlin. The pole-winning effort was Jones' seventh-career Xfinity Series pole and his 11th-straight top-five start so far this season.

Suarez, who had led the second round of qualifying and was second-fastest in practice, held onto the outside pole with a lap of 184.470 mph. Hamlin – pulling double duty in both the Xfinity and Sprint Cup Series races – qualified third with a lap of 183.219 mph. Defending race winner Austin Dillon, who was fastest in Thursday's practice session, was fourth with a run of 182.636 mph, followed by Kyle Larson (182.451 mph).

T.J. Bell and Morgan Shepherd failed to qualify for the event.
