Brazilian V8 Stock Cars unveils 2017 calendar

The 2017 racing calendar for Brazilian V8 Stock Car was announced today (December 21st). The coming season starts on April 2nd in Goiania and ends on December 10th in Interlagos, Sao Paulo. The schedule comprises 12 rounds including new venues. The major news is that the series will make its comeback to Argentina after a ten-year absence – the last time was back in 2008 with a race at the Oscar Galvez Autodrome in Buenos Aires.

Although the return to Argentina is settled – since Brazilian V8 Stock Cars is a South-American championship as well -, the venue to host the fourth round of the season on June 11th is yet to be confirmed.

Another novelty is the debut of the Stock Cars in Mogi Guacu – 200 kms away from Sao Paulo – at the Velo Citta racetrack. The venue was homologated by the CBA and FIA in 2012 and since then hosts national championships and private events. Now, it is time for the country’s most prestigious series to race on the stunning 3.49-km racetrack in the countryside of the Sao Paulo state.

The Circuito dos Cristais, in Curvelo, debuted in 2016 and is poised to be back next year, but is still subject to confirmation as the venue is under improvement work. Similar situation applies to Brasilia, a track which suffered development works to receive IndyCars in 2015 but since then struggles to get the retrofit finished.

The traditional Million Reais Race is confirmed in September. However, the venue is yet to be announced, since series organizer Vicar is working on commercial and technical details to set the best location to host the millionaire race.
