Ty Dillon could break into Cup with another team

Speaking earlier this month about a possible move to the Sprint Cup Series in 2016, Richard Childress Racing XFINITY Series driver Ty Dillon said, "We're 100% focused on getting sponsorship for full-time for RCR." Dillon's team owner and grandfather, Richard Childress, doesn't seem totally settled on that plan, however. Childress told FOXSports.com on Saturday at Sonona Raceway that his youngest grandson could move up next year — but possibly do so with another organization.

Any plans for Dillon to go Sprint Cup racing next year likely won't be announced in July, Childress also indicated at Sonoma.

"We're going to wait and see a couple of months, anyway," he said. "We're working on some things and we've got another team already put together — the fourth (RCR) team — and he may even someday … it's no telling where he'll end up, because he's got some people that's been pretty interested in him, so we'll see how it goes. Right now we're working on, if the right sponsorship comes along, and we're going to watch him a little more the rest of this year to see how he progresses. I just don't want to move either one of them too soon. And you've got to wait. When the opportunity's there, you've got to take your opportunity." FoxSports
